Child taken from parents who believe in faith healing

In Oregon, authorities recently took away a child from a family that practiced faith healing on their daughter instead of seeking medical attention. The 7 month old child had a small mark above her left eye that eventually swelled due to problems with her blood vessels. The full article can be found here. Oregon will most likely not allow the parents to have the child back, unless there is a detailed plan and severe restrictions. According to OregonLive, the husband’s deceased ex-wife died from not seeking medical attention for her breast cancer. Susan Nielsen, also of OregonLive, writes:

“Over the past three decades, more than 20 Oregon children whose parents belong to the Followers of Christ church have died of treatable illnesses, according to the state medical examiner’s office.”
