Science further explores near-death experiences

Written by in News at May 31, 2010

The British Times Online reports that scientists have been exploring near-death experience reports. Some people adamantly defend near-death experiences as fact, and take these anecdotes as evidence. Skeptics usually discredit them, but personal experiences or personal experiences of loved ones are very strong to the individual. Many people who have had such experiences would likely not be swayed by a scientific explanation or the following:

“We think the near-death experiences could be caused by a surge of electrical energy released as the brain runs out of oxygen”

-Lakhmir Chawla, George Washington University
