78: Curiosity Rover, Tyranny of the Majority, Bad Billboards, Romney/Ryan

Written by in Broadcasts at August 15, 2012

Tom and Chris discuss the Curiosity Rover, the age-old question of the “rights” of a majority, bad billboards, and the Romney/Ryan ticket. Also, Mike continues his “Questions for an Atheist” segment to hopefully fill in a few more gaps in the collective knowledge.

This _is_ episode 78. No idea why I said 76 and didn’t catch it.

I totally agree with your opinion on the billboards. My biggest fear is the perpetuation and reinforcement of the stereotypical atheist. I would much rather see the atheist cause, for lack of a better term, slowly take hold in a categorically clear way than to see an affront on religion and belief that only results in people falling back on their religion or resentment toward atheists and atheistic ideas.

I think those billboards are in bad taste and fail to present the compassion and understanding that I think atheists and especially humanists should stand for. We are bigger than those billboards.
