“The God Problem” by Howard Bloom
I’ve only paged through it so far but it looks interesting.

I also enjoyed the convo on Harris’ ‘Free Will’. I would like to hear a more elaborate discussion on determinism vs. agency which really pits scientism vs. humanism. I know Robin Marie would have some fascinating opinions.

Just heard your podcast for the first time, and I feel like I found my people! One thing I seem to run into (and ultimately what cured my religious addiction) is the lack of any miracle ever. Now there is the story of the girl in Oakland who is brain dead but the family wants to keep on “life support” so they can wait for a miracle from God. I come from a large religious family, and even though when you ask them about miracles, they haven’t seen any, they still are convinced that “miracles happen”. I have offered to show the science behind any miracle, but got no takers. I think a part of the problem is the media constantly calls everyday events miracles. I would like to hear your approach to dealing with people who believe in miracles.

Thanks,
Louis Crockett

Another topic might be a discussion of Stephen J. Gould’s Non overlapping Magisteria essay and how it might apply to Atheism today. Dawkins and others were very critical but I find his (Gould’s) position a further defense of the humanities against scientism.

Thought that “A Metaphysical, Quantum and Philosophical Examination of the Universe” might be of interest. Supportive scientific study and reason applied in the text with reference to source material.

You will get a bunch of laughs when you read - The Adventures of Jesus - http://wsautter.com/adventures-of-jesus free and funnier than a barrel of lepers!
